Interactive Furniture, sensory lights + audio

Title
An Experiment in Making and Interactivity Furniture, using Audio and Visual as an output.

Research

The main prospect is to create a dialogue between human and object, using sound and visual as the term of the communication. Indirectly shows the furniture/object’s sense in audio/visual format. The output is based on the input, 64 led will projected and the color swapping is based on the sensor, the sensor will detected the motion (sonar)/weigh (force)

Proposal

The force/sonar sensor will senses an object; the LED will slowly fade in and out. The audio feedback produces an ambient sound when the force/sonar sensor is triggered. The pitch will change depending where the object is placed on the table. The Arduino will also register; the amount of pressure detected by the sensor, the distance between the object and the sensor; and will produce a sound distortion effect based on the distance calculation or the amount of pressure being applied. The sound distortion is being deliberate accordingly by measuring the input from the sensor.

Design Approach
More to technical and electoronic based stuff wilth a bit of programming stuff.Basically using an arduino micro controller board, the research will be narrowed to the progamming and the electronic stuff.Lots of LED light will be used, and a simple table will be used as a platform.

Topic
Visual performance; low cost multi-touch sensor using Pir + WiiMote

Title
Electronic motion, hack a gadget to invent new technology

Research/Problem Identification
Discover the visual performance in real time with motion act using the pervasive gadget. Enhance the value of artwork by implementing themselves into live action, same as the purpose of multi-touch application. The motion sensor capability from the gadget (WiiMote) that produced from its own relatively high performing IR camera that detected the IR sense itself, and with more effort to comprehend the technology, it also can be a valid platform to create an Augmented Reality project.

Proposal
Creating a multi-touch application using IR sensitivity, can be achieved by hacking an IR gadget, in this case, WiiMote controller.
Creating a live demo on simple multi-touch application, with minimal animation but give an impact to audience regarding the technology. It also can be perceive as a "live-photoshop", and it can be a simple but powerful solution to construct and explore the world that new technologies bring to live performances or for educational purpose.

Topic
Audio inter-action with motion

Title
Waving aural - Midi Theremin based project, solfege

Problem Identification
Explore on how motion act in real space using ever-present technology around the community of end-user. Surrounding the action with some gimmick, users just need to pass-by in front of the sensor and strively the signal will detected the motion and transmitting the data to the component. The component will process the order and fabricate the midi sound. The more sound will be attached by detecting a motion/action from user.

Proposal
Creating a simple musical instrument that uses a range sensor to trigger sound samples. Players can create musical sounds capes by moving in front of the range sensor, which maps pitch to distance. This project was created using an Arduino board with a PING ultrasonic sensor as receiver and transmitted the signal to and audio library, which is particularly the ideation at the moment is to connect with the Minim sound library convert using Reason/Soundforge/Soundwave in processing the midi output sound. The output from the midi sound will be processed and converted into a visual play using a suitable application.

Motivation
Indirectly intend to create an active visual of solfege's art and combine it into an interactive way by enhanced the visual play with sensory value. So it will eventually creating a fun style to learn and play the art itself.

Motivation
Create a micro controller board that will receive and transmit a sensor for input and will deliver a visual with audio as the output. A bit of programming and basic electronic fundamental need to be learned. A research on solfege and ultrasonic sensor will give some idea to develop the platform.
